For the lightweight car of the future, we use all of our development expertise. We invent new, optimally suitable materials. We test every single component for a possible weight reduction, focusing on bionic design with nature as a role model, and thus finding the lightest and most stable form. We develop state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and always pay attention to functional integration. For example, we can replace 10 steel sheet parts with a single cast component. In addition, a casting is up to 40 percent lighter than sheet metal.

Our Sustainability Measures Are Demonstrably Good
We document our sustainability activities comprehensively and detail them in sustainability reports which are published regularly by the Georg Fischer Group. Independent agencies check and validate the results. We are very attentive and sparing with non-renewable energy sources such as oil, gas, and foundry coke. We have already received many awards for our lightweight parts. For example, our studies on lightweight chassis design were awarded the ÖkoGlobe environmental award from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany. This led to a bionically designed pivot bearing with a substantial weight reduction.
